Apples and Artisan Honey: Traditions from the Apiary. Zoom.

10:00 AM - 11:00 AMApples and honey: One of the most popular High Holiday customs involves eating apple slices dipped in honey. Ancient Jews believed apples had healing properties, and the honey signifies the hope that the new year will be sweet. We will welcome Virginia Webb, the former "Buckhead Beekeeper", and now owner of MtnHoney Apiary in Clarksville, GA. MtnHoney is situated on 8 acres of beautiful apple orchards as well as Sourwood trees. They have over 400 colonies of happy bees, and we will see and learn about all things relating to apples, raw honey, and bee keeping. Virginia Webb is a third generation beekeeper. She has worked with beekeepers across the US and has traveled to Europe and the Caribbean teaching beekeeping for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. MtnHoney as been awared four gold medals for "World's Best Honey"at the World Honey Show. Zoom.
