Selichot:  Celebrating Temple Authors

Featuring Temple member Michael Coles, author of "Time to Get Tough:  How Cookies, Coffee and a Crash Led to Success in Business and Life"

Saturday, September 21 ~ 6:30 pm Nosh ~ 7:00 pm Program & Service ~ 8:30 Reception and Tour of Temple Books

The celebration of Selichot serves as our kick off to the whole season of High Holy Days. The High Holy Day liturgy imagines that God has a “Book of Life,” a record that reflects on our past year, and the ways in which we’ve succeeded and failed to be as authentic to our best selves as possible. The hope is that, through prayer, insight and our subsequent willingness to improve, we will be written in the Book of Life again for the year to come. Many of our fellow Temple members have also written books, works of art that reflect their lives or reflections on parts of their lives. It made us wonder: how might writing a book have an impact on how we see the lives we’ve lived, and how we would want to “write our days and years to come.” Our liturgical metaphor meets real life!
Welcome to a night of learning and reflection, featuring Temple member Michael Coles,  author of Time to Get Tough: How Cookies, Coffee, and a Crash Led to Success in Business and Life, along with co-author by Dr. Catherine Lewis, Assistant Vice President, Museums, Archives & Rare Books at Kennesaw State University.
