65th Anniversary of The Temple Bombing: Black + Jewish Relations Then & Now

Sunday, October 29, 2023 14 Cheshvan 5784

12:30 PM - 2:30 PMSanctuary

October 12th marks 65 years since The Temple bombing. Join us to hear a personal recollection of that day from Janice Rothschild Blumberg, wife of the late Rabbi Jacob Rothschild, Temple senior rabbi and leading voice for civil rights in the South. Black + Jewish: Connection, Courage & Community, a traveling exhibition hosted by The Temple, will provide a historical backdrop for a conversation about relationships between Black and Jewish communities locally and the work we can do together to advance justice. Please visit the exhibit until October 31.

Panelists include Rabbi Alvin M. Sugarman; Rabbi Lydia Medwin; Rev. Sean Smith, Senior Adviser to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens; Lauren Linder, Rothschild Social Justice Institute’s Racial Justice co-chair; and Sherry Frank, co-founder of the American Jewish Committee's Atlanta Black/Jewish Coalition. This event is co-sponsored by Kennesaw State University's Museum of History & Holocaust Education and the AJC Atlanta Black/Jewish Coalition. We are collecting questions for our panelists in advance here.

Please do not arrive before 12:30 pm because of Breman Education Center program dismissal.

You can still join the program in person at 1 pm, but registration for bagels has closed.
