ROTHSCHILD SOCIAL JUSTICE INSTITUTE
"Justice, justice shall you pursue..." -Deuteronomy 16:20
"And what God requires of you: Only to do justice, And to love goodness..." -Micah 6:8
The Temple heeds the prophetic call for tikkun olam through the Rothschild Social Justice Institute. Named in honor of The Temple’s esteemed Civil Rights leader Rabbi Jacob M. Rothschild, since 2017 the Rothschild Institute seeks to affect positive change on the local level and beyond concerning some of the most critical societal issues of our time.
Our initiatives each involve a range of direct community service, activating social justice within the Temple operations and assets, and public advocacy in our broader community. Each initiative is led by one or more congregants and energized by Temple members of all ages and backgrounds.
Like the Temple’s values, we acknowledge that all congregants have gifts to offer our social justice work, and we are welcome and open to all.
We welcome your involvement and inquiries! Contact RSJI Chair Dena Kimball or Temple President Louis Lettes.
As the world around us changes, so do our social justice groups grow and evolve. This section features the most active social justice initiatives of our community. Follow the links below to learn more.

For a variety of possible reasons, (i.e. group leadership change), one or more groups may be placed in a dormant category, allowing RSJI to evaluate new strategies for increased engagement.
- Anti Sex Trafficking
- Disability Justice
- Muslim-Jewish Relations
If you are interested in leading a dormant group or that is not currently active, or reach out to RSJI Chair Dena Kimball.
