Be the Light…

Eight awesome nights of Chanukah with The Temple! 


Chanukah begins Thursday, December 10, 2020 at sundown.

We may not be able to gather in person, but we can still be one community celebrating the Festival of Lights and bringing light into our homes and our world. All of the details are being finalized, but plan on joining us for a Chanukah-themed drive through to see The Temple and get some treats, and then joining us virtually each night for fun for all ages. For signups and up-to-date info, please see below. 

 

First Candle: Thursday, December 10: 

4:00-6:00 PMDrive through The Temple’s parking lot and wave to your Temple clergy and staff while picking up some gifts and tasty treats!

7:00 PM | Chanukah Gourmet with James Beard Award Winner Michael Twitty

Join your Temple family for a celebration of Hanukkah treats, old and new, as we welcome James Beard Award winning chef and author Michael Twitty! Michael Twitty is a writer, culinary historian, and educator. Michael will prepare a food demo with a new spin on a Chanukah treat. In his way as a master storyteller Michael will educate us with a special focus on Southern cuisine and the diversity of Jewish identity, especially as it is present in the food we eat during this festive time of year. There will be a chance to speak with Michael at a Q&A afterwards. There is no cost for our Temple community but registration is required to receive the Zoom link.

6:00 PM | Movie Night at The Springs Drive-In!

This will be a fun night with your Temple family! Arrive at as early as 5:00pm to get a great spot, order food and drinks (The Springs will have their full concession stand open for food purchase), and schmooze safely. Masks and social distancing are required. We'll light the Chanukiah at 6 PM, followed by a family-friendly movie. Admission is $10/car with one person; $18/car with 2 people or more. Space is limited.

 

Eighth Candle: Thursday, December 17

6:00 PM | Virtual Candlelighting with your Temple clergy and staff followed by a concert with Shira Klein! 

 

Celebrate the eight night of Chanukah with us as we host award-winning performer, music educator and kiddie-rocker, Shira Klein! Her dynamic performance will feature danceable music, live animated illustrations, art projects, and interactive songs and storytelling.  This Chanukah marks Shira’s return to The Temple after her highly-acclaimed visit to us five years ago when she rocked out with our early childhood and early elementary families!
