Yiddishkeit: A Story of Song & Prayer

The Temple is one of Atlanta’s most historic institutions with the most innovative production capability—making it the perfect setting for timeless classical chamber repertoire dynamically reimagined in a new series bringing together the city’s finest artists with renowned international instrumentalists in a visually stunning space.

The Temple’s state-of-the-art media infrastructure will make the chamber players more accessible and showcase their vibrancy as people and artists. Through pre-recorded interviews played before they take the stage, audiences will gain a more personal understanding of what each musician offers - not just musically - but their influences, their quirks, what motivates them, their professional journeys, their hobbies beyond music, and where they find inspiration.

Audiences will be delighted by the intimate, immersive experience of live, close-up views of nimble playing, expressive artistry, and other nuances made possible through projection on the big screens.

The season finale’s program will include Nichifor's Klezmer Dance; Williams's Theme from Schindler's List; Kovács's Sholem Alekham, Rov Feidman; Bloch's Nigun; Bei Mir Bust Du Sheyn; Schiff's Divertimento from Gimpel the Fool; Abi Gezunt; Avinu Malkeinu; Rumania, Rumania; Ravel's Kaddish; Sargon's KlezMusik; and Schoenfield's Café Music. The concert will be performed by ASO Principal Jesse McCandless, clarinet; Helen Kim, violin; Roee Harran, cello; Judy Cole, piano; and Cantor Tracey Scher, mezzo-soprano.
