Join the RSJI Border Justice group for a powerful evening! Together we will watch a virtual screener of the award winning film Witness at Tornillo, which documents Josh Rubin's story as he works to end the internment of thousands of migrant teenagers in the West Texas dessert. After this moving film we will have the opportunity to hear the testimony and celebrate the life of Tania Romero. While being treated for stage 4 cancer, Tania was detained at Irwin Detention Center and threatened with deportation. Her supporters reached out to Rabbis and Jewish organizations across Atlanta, and Temple clergy, staff, and lay leaders were instrumental in making sure her case was heard. On October 25th we will have the opportunity to hear Tania's testimony first hand, celebrate her 49th birthday, and learn how we can get involved to help individuals being unlawfully detained by ICE.
