Musical Shabbat: Spirit & Soul with Neranenah on the Lawn

Friday, March 24, 2023 2 Nisan 5783

6:30 PM - 8:00 PMFront Lawn

Come celebrate Shabbat with Neranenah as we present a Musical Shabbat: Spirit & Soul featuring The Temple's own composer-in-residence, Rabbi Micah Lapidus, and The Hello, Goodbye, & Peace Ensemble. Not to be missed, this Shabbat will include complimentary refreshments, wine, beer, and a tasty dinner option to order! No need to RSVP to attend but please sign up below for dinner by Wednesday at Noon.

The ensemble will perform completely original music and features a diverse array of incredibly talented musicians. The musical stylings will range from beautiful versions of Shabbat prayers to blues and jazz infused "secular" songs with themes pulled from Jewish tradition with a strong focus on social justice and living life with joy and purpose. It will be a combination of spiritually invigorating and accessible settings of traditional Shabbat prayers as well as the "MLK Shabbat sound" that so many of us associate with his original compositions such as Rise Up, Good Trouble, and Praying with our Feet. You will hear Neranenah's Joe Alterman on piano and keyboards, Melvin Myles (from Lapidus & Myles as well as the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir), Caroline Goldberg (The Temple's very own), Julia Filson (violin), DJ Burel (drums), and Will Robertson (multi-instrumentalist, choir director at Bet Haverim, and highly sought after music producer and engineer). This Shabbat is very family-friendly and a great opportunity to invite anyone that might enjoy an evening of MLK Shabbat-style music.

Dinner is catered by Breadwinner Cafe. Dinner boxes are $20 per person.
