WE NEED EACH OTHER

 TEMPLE PHONE BUDDIES

During these unsettling times when we are being told we must physically distance ourselves, we need each other more than ever!  We have many senior members of our Temple community who live alone or are in facilities where no visitors are allowed. We also have many Temple members who wish to give of their time; but need to so in the safety of their own home.

To help connect these congregants, we are initiating a phone buddy program.  Please let us know if:

1.  You would like to receive a phone call 2 to 3 times a week from a Temple member.  These calls can be just a quick check-in and also a way for you to voice any concerns or needs you may have.

2.  You have an aging relative or friend that would like to receive these calls.

3.  You are interested in making calls to at least one Temple member 2 to 3 times a week.

If interested or if you have any questions, please email Susan Gordon.

FEEDING THE HOMELESS

With the closure of the various ministries that provide food, we wonder how the food insecure will eat during this time of crisis.

In light of our long standing partnerships with churches up and down Peachtree Street, we are partnering with others to continue to feed our neighbors. Here’s the idea: There will be a table outside Lutheran Church of the Redeemer daily and each church/synagogue will have someone there to hand out lunches, all done in such a way as to preserve our physical distancing protocols.  All you need to do is pack up two sandwiches, a bag of chips, a fruit and a bottle of water in a paper bag. Then, you'll simply drop it off at the table outside of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on your assigned day. That’s it! We hope you will sign up as small groups or clusters of families, to provide the hungry with this extra meal. More details to follow once you’ve signed up. To sign up, please contact Rabbi Lydia Medwin.

MEALS ON WHEELS

Meals on Wheels needs help more than ever. They have a robust system of precautions to keep volunteers safe.

DONATING OPPORTUNITIES

Help Medical Professional with Childcare for their Children - Medical personnel are experiencing a critical need for in-home child care. The costs for such child care are significant for many families at $144 per day for each 12-hour shift.

SitterTree is partnering with local businesses and congregations to provide gift cards to medical personnel.  Sitter Bucks Gift Cards subsidize the daily cost of in-home child care.  Medical personnel can immediately book rigorously screened child care without the need to pay upfront costs and wait for reimbursement.  In addition, your gift card will ease the economic burden for local college students who depend on hourly babysitting wages. SitterTree is an online babysitting booking app with experience booking more than 40,000 jobs in Atlanta.  SitterTree's platform is experienced in efficiently providing quality childcare.  During this time of social distancing, we have existing modes of communication to ensure sitters follow consistent safety protocols for every job.
